Oh so worried

 Hi

I'm not too sure who might still be on this comm or not but I just wanted to post a little message to vent my worries and see if any of you have some feedback for me.

I started watching this show a little over a month ago and have almost finished season 6.  I am a HUGE Fritz / Brenda shipper.  I love them together and I love FRITZ for being so patient.  I am, however, extremely concerned about their relationship.

....  before I continue I should clearly state that I AM NOT crazy and I do realize that they aren't real..  LMAO

Okay, I just finished watching the episode with the Pot Shops that are getting robbed.  At the end of this episode Fritz voices his concern for the UMPTEENTH time about Will Pope's feelings for her.  She, for the UMPTEENTH time, tells him that she'll handle it.  And then she doesn't.

I'll refresh some memories because it's been a while since this episode aired.  This the scene where she goes into Will's office and tells him that the new Chief has offered her his job.  Will says he's going to throw in the towel and Brenda pleads with him not to.  In my opinion she stopped just slightly short of telling Pope that she still had feelings for him.  Maybe I'm just reading too much into it but it looked to me like she's been stringing Will along and the end of this episode was the icing on the cake.

I like Will.  But I LOVE MY FRITZ.  I am sooooo  worried that they are going to break up and that Brenda is going to end up with Will....

I hope I'm wrong but I keep hearing her tell Fritz that she'll handle the issue with Will having feelings for her and then she doesn't. It's been like this all through the entire show. Maybe it's because I've watched the entire show (all six seasons... almost) in a little over a month that I see it more but I can make a list of times where it almost looks like she's secretly still in love with Will. Right down to the box of memories that she held onto for the longest time.

Am I the only one who sees this?

I would just like to inform you that the last ten minutes of episode 15 will settle most if not all of your fears.

Yes, I think the Pope issue is something that will come up in the next season, but I honestly don't believe they're in danger of breaking up, now or ever.

Yes, I believe she still does and always will carry a torch for Pope - speaking from experience, you never really get over your first love - but it is Fritz she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She loves him, and they've made each other better people. She's a better person when she's with him; he's a better person when he's with her. There's love and then there's I-will-spend-the-rest-of-my-life-with-you-come-hell-or-high-water, undying, lasts-through-it-all, I-don't-care-what-problems-we-have-because-nothing-feels-worse-than-not-being-with-you love. It's pretty obvious where her feelings for Fritz fall.

I don't know you, but think I love ya.

Okay so what you're saying is "Take a pill, relax, and watch the rest of season six before you freak out"....

.... Okay, I'm good.

I'm not sure like you are that she still has feelings for Pope but I agree with everything else! :)

I've been told that I'm the biggest Brenda/Fritz shipper, I'm just one of, I see :) and I don't worry about them. They're the most stable, strong couple on TV in my opinion. I think Brenda hasn't had any feelings for Pope for a long time now, for sure since she got engaged to Fritz and certainly since they've been married.

The way I saw that scene is this. I think she told Fritz that she'll deal with it to reassure him, to make him feel better, because he has nothing to worry about and I believe so too. Pope may be (!) a bit hung up on her, still, but he doesn't love her, the way he treated her this season certainly disputes that. I think we may get a follow-up on that next season, she will deal with Pope and his feelings then. James Duff said that next season will be about how she really feels about Fritz and Pope (he's in her past btw., no doubt, Fritz is her present).

So, Brenda was actually using Fritz's revelation that Pope still has feelings for her to use him, for her own gain. As she said, she only takes into account her own wishes, nobody elses. That's who she is, I believe her! lol She wants to stay in her current job so that means Pope needs to stay put where he is now as well. Pope was about to give up fighting to stay the Assistant Chief of Police so she used his feelings for her to make him fight to stay where he is by saying she wants him to stay for her, for work-related reasons. Which actually is for her because she wants to stay the closer not sit behind a desk and as Fritz said, she always thought of herself and Pope as partners, once again all in the work-related area, and it's true. He's the only one above her she can still manipulate to do what she wants, no wonder she wants him to stay there and not be replaced by someone new.

Also, don't you think Fritz telling Brenda about his past made them stronger as a couple, even closer? I do. How amazing were those B/F scenes in the finale? IMO season 6 was amazing for Fritz and Fritz/Brenda. There was some solid character and relationship development there. Plus, sexy, adorable, funny scenes, as usual. I love their banter, whether about work or personal matters. The Closer writers did a great job with them this season!

I hope my comment made you feel better and more sure about Brenda and Fritzy. They're awesome, not a perfect but a realistic couple. I love the writing of their relationship. In Duff I Trust, he's handled their relationship well so far and I believe he will until the end of the series.

Oh God I hope you're right. I haven't seen the finale yet... But I've peeked so I have an idea about what you mean. I think that I'm just sooooo in love with this couple that I'm stressed over the slightest threat.

you are right though, they do seem to get stronger and stonger as time goes by. at the end of season 4 I was totally worried that he was going to die In the drug bust the day before the wedding. I was SOOOOO relieved to see how it turned out.

As for how much of a shipper I've become.... I don't think I've shipped a couple as hard as I do these two since... God....... Like Mulder and Scully. I don't know how old you are so you may not even know about them LOL

Oh! it's going to be a long and agonizing wait till Season 7 starts.

So great to see another die hard B/F shipper around! :D

I think that I'm just sooooo in love with this couple that I'm stressed over the slightest threat.

Believe me, I know what you mean, been there when I was worrying if they'll get married or not. Now, I don't worry about them anymore. Okay, I did a bit lately, not yet knowing what Fritz would reveal of his past and how it would affect them but it was all good. TC writers have proved themselves again and again that they're great at writing this relationship. They treat them right. I ship another couple on a different show and OMG that writing is soooo, way below of the quality relationship writing on The Closer. B/F is seriously my favorite and most enjoyable couple to ship ever. Shippers actually get what we want and they still keep us interested. It's heaven.

I know about Mulder & Scully but I never shipped them or watched that show for that matter.

*sigh* It will be but I recently rewatched season 6 so got my B/F fix. Watching old seasons will have to do until then. So many amazing shippy B/F scenes to watch again and again. ;)

I think what Sets these guys apart is the fact that the writers didn't drag the relationship along just to keep the fan base hooked. they just let the relationship develop and grow like it should have...fights, tension, and everything that comes with it. I think that's because the chemistry between these two is enough to keep us hooked.

I just wish I would would have started watching this show back when it started.

Yes, that! I'm so glad there's one show out there that does things right regarding a couple.

Also, a lot of shows don't take relationship development seriously enough. The Closer does, we get substantial relationship scenes in practically every episode. They take their time for Brenda/Fritz, it's not all about a case. I like how they integrated Fritz more into Brenda's working life this season, too, by promoting him to an FBI liaison to LAPD. We got more of Fritz this way (he wasn't present in one episode because Jon Tenney was filming a movie).

you're right. Fritz's promotion was very good for them

ahhhh *Takes deep cleansing breath*

And they probably wouldn't have invested so much in the character just to have him dumped at the end.

Well Now, Y'all have been a great help in relieving my anxiety

Thank Yew!

Ps. I can't wait to watch the season finale tonight

I love Brenda/Fritz too ;)
In my opinion Will is a very good friend and of course Brenda would do a lot for him but I think she loves Fritz so much, she would not break up with him. She only forgets sometimes that she hurts Fritz with her behavior.

I think you might be right, I just get a little nervous about them sometimes LOL.

I just started watching this show a month ago and have made my way through all 6 seasons over the past 4 - 5 weeks. I began to ship them right away, I totally LOVE them together. Throughout the entire 6 seasons ... especially the first 4... I have always worried that she didn't love him as much as she should and that she'd mess up enough that he'd walk away.

I just finished watching the last episode of season 6... like literally 5 minutes ago. The last two seasons, especially season 6 has showed them getting stronger and stronger as a couple... along with a few really good knock-down drag-out fights LOL... except for the episode with Will in his office. That particular scene kinda threw me, which prompted this post. The last episode of this season put my fears to rest, for now anyway.

I can't wait for season 7

Hi, I've never left a comment even being a member. I also love Fritz and this episode made me very worried. I want Brenda and Fritz have a beautiful end, buy a house and have a kid. (OHH yeah, I know it's NOT real life and I'm not crazy) But The Closer is my favorite show and I really wanted everything to be perfect in the end. And I wanted to develop a relationship Will Pope/ Sharon Raydor , I see a chemistry between them and I know I'm not the only one.

Funny. I often compare shipping this couple to riding a roller coaster. One episode is awesome Brenda/Fritz and I feel all warm and fuzzy and then the next episode something happens to remind me of that other issue and then I find myself fretting again.

Oh well, I guess you have to give the writer credit. Six years in and they still know how to keep us on our toes.
